Active recovery’s an important part of physical growth (in sport, e.g. running) but it’s also important for recovery from some mental stress.

Active recovery stretches the same muscle as that which was stressed by a previous exercise. You don’t lift weights as active recovery from a run.

Active recovery can be built into some work. Walking is a mental recovery for me if I’m writing or doing other creative work. Craig Mod’s work naturally blends walking with his creative output. Other work can do the same.

Conversation is a kind of active recovery for me when I’m drained from work.
